Wine Storage for a Dining Room
Tongdean is a piece of dining room joinery rather than a kitchen. The cabinetry runs along one wall of the dining room and turns the corner to a window, and every piece is painted in a pale sage grey. A white veined top runs along its full length, and the long run beside the dining table serves as a sideboard. Each tower is finished with a cornice, and a moulded plinth runs along the foot of the cabinetry.
Two tall towers hold the wine that is on show. In the corner, lit white shelves hold bottles on their sides with the labels facing out, and beside the window, a second tower has lit angled shelves above pull out wine trays. Beneath the window, more pull out trays in natural wood with slatted bases keep bottles out of sight. Nearby, two lit openings with glass shelves are set into a painted panelled frame to keep wine glasses on show.
Every piece was designed for the room, handmade in our workshop near Horsham and fitted by our own team, with all painting and finishing completed in the workshop before installation. Sylvan Design makes bespoke furniture and joinery as well as kitchens, from wine walls and sideboards to dressers and fitted storage, for homes across Surrey, Sussex, Kent and London.

Display Towers
Two tall towers beneath a cornice are lit from within. The corner tower holds bottles on their sides on white shelves, and the tower beside the window has angled shelves above pull out wine trays.
-
Wine Trays
Beneath the window, a low run of cabinets holds pull out wine trays in natural wood with slatted bases. A white veined top runs over them to meet the towers on either side.
-
Sideboard
A long sideboard with plain panelled fronts and a white veined top runs along the dining room wall. It meets the corner tower, so the sideboard and the wine storage read as one piece.
-
Glass Niche
Two lit openings, each with a glass shelf, are set into a painted panelled frame in the wall to keep wine glasses on show.

Yes. At Tongdean the wine storage runs along one wall of the dining room and turns the corner to a window, with two lit towers, pull out wine trays and a long sideboard beneath one white veined top. Because every piece is made to measure, the cabinetry can follow the walls, windows and corners of the room it is made for.

Display shelves keep a selection of bottles on show. At Tongdean they are lit from within, with bottles laid on their sides in the corner tower and on angled shelves in the tower beside the window. Pull out wine trays hold more bottles out of sight below, and each tray slides forward so that the bottles at the back can be reached.

Yes. Alongside kitchens, we design and make bespoke furniture and joinery, including wine rooms, dressers, sideboards and fitted storage. The Tongdean wine wall is one example, painted in a pale sage grey with natural wood wine trays. At the first consultation we learn how you will use the space and take initial measurements.
